Oloimugi Maasai Village runs a women empowerment project through beadwork.Pieces of quality beads made are sold to tourists who visit the village and sometimes other rare markets that come up from time to time.There is no reliable market for the beautiful jewellery and would like to appeal to anyone who comes across this piece to help us find a way of helping the women.Instead of relying on livestock alone for a living,beadwork has potential of empowering the women to help feed their families-feed children and educate them.
Sustainability and empowerment are crucial ingredients in the kitchen of conservation.An empowered society owns up conservation and do not fall into shot-sighted,shot-term alternatives of earning a living through environmental destruction.We need help to make a dream of promoting a culture and stabilizing livelihoods of our sisters and mothers possible.
